The Rotary Club of Deloraine is raising funds to build a portal to the entrance to the 2016 Tasmanian Craft Fair designed by UTAS Students.

"The Tasmanian Craft Fair with the University of Tasmania’s School of Architecture and Design
The Tasmanian Craft Fair has more than 200 exhibiting artists and artisans and attracts over 20,000 visitors. The event takes place annually in Deloraine located midway between Launceston and Devonport.
This year, the organisers of the Tasmanian Craft Fair are keen to create an impressive entrance to the event and have requested the support of students at the University of Tasmania to create a ‘Gateway’ to the Fair. Under the guidance of Mark Bagguley, students will design, construct and install the Gateway which will open on Friday, 4th November for the opening of the Craft Fair.
Each year the Craft Fair invests the profits generated from the event ticket sales into community projects or causes, either locally or overseas. The Craft Fair is looking to raise funds in order to offset the cost of materials required to produce the structure.
The Tasmanian Craft Fair has a 35 year history of providing a launchpad for the innovation of new products and businesses throughout the state. The event organisers feel it is their duty to continue this legacy and this year are working with the University of Tasmania’s School of Architecture and Design to develop the structure.
How you can help
The students have been given a budget of $7000 and that is what we intend to raise. It is deliberately restrictive to encourage innovation but large enough to inspire the students to be flexible and innovative."
