Progress 1 | Main Structure

Using physical models to interpret the structural tension between each wooden strips as well as testing out the materiality of various plywood are critical for us at the beginning stage. We have discovered plenty of problems that needed to be overcome such as when it comes to dealing with joints amongst each perspective strip and issues with the bending moments of the plywood as well etc.


The discussions on the form making of the structure is arousing as each student/group have offered plenty of great ideas and it was really hard to make a decision on which one we should take on and proceed.

Below are the images showing our initial ideas of the main structure for the portal design.
